Odd little grab-bag this week but it all comes back to hands touching parchment across centuries. That Beatus leaf angel has the tiredest face I've ever seen on a divine being being told to hold back four winds, honestly relatable. Might actually sign up for the September course,

Haven't added anything new to Manuscript hands in weeks, just keep opening it to look at that one scribe's ascenders again. Someone was clearly bored around folio 40 — little face doodled in the margin, judging everyone. Ductus is elegant though, whoever they were.

Not sure how Frieze Seoul wandered into this stack but I'm leaving it, chaos has its own logic. The 813 calendar leaf is the real prize though — some monk quietly proving Rome wrong and going back to his lunch.

Added the Codex Gigas again because I never tire of that scribe's ego — folio after folio, same hand, not a single tremor. Meanwhile some monk two shelves over drew a snail fighting a knight in the margin. Priorities, per saeculum.
